The Confrontation and Symbiosis of the Body: The Narrative Presentation of the Electra Complex in Ge Fei's Peach Blossom Paradise
Abstract
Ge Fei'sPeach Blossom Paradisepresents the Electra complex through the medium of the body, namely the girl's latent attachment to her father and invisible competition with her mother. Xiumei's fatherly desire and mother-daughter rivalry are concretely manifested through dreamlike narratives and bodily confrontations. The formation of this complex stems from the external family structure marked by the father's absence and the internal psychological roots of distorted mother-daughter symbiotic fantasies. Ge Fei's writing transcends individual psychological analysis, revealing the spiritual predicament of women in unbalanced families and providing a unique perspective for contemporary literary depictions of female experience.
