The Subversion of Male Coagulation in Classic Films and the Reconstruction of Gender Power
Abstract
This paper conducts a comparative analysis of Blonde (2022) and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) to examine how these films subvert the Male Gaze and reconstruct gender power dynamics. Specifically, it will analyze from three perspectives: character development, camera language, and narrative plot, how the "male gaze" is manifested and how female subjectivity is highlighted. Through this explanation, the study reveals how such cinematic subversions redefine gendered representations and carry tangible implications for individuals and society. The findings illuminate how cinematic choices redefine gendered subjectivities, challenge cultural norms, and carry tangible implications for audience perceptions of gender, agency, and power in both media and society.
