Flowing Culture: A Study on the Literary Representation of the Yangtze River from the Perspective of Immigrant Culture

Abstract

Traditional human beliefs hold that culture is a product created by humanity through long-term social practice activities. The subject of culture is people, and it has a two-way interactive relationship with the economy. With the rapid economic and social development in the Yangtze River Basin of China, both push and pull factors have strengthened, leading to increasingly frequent population movements across national borders, regions, and between urban and rural areas. The migration along the Yangtze River has given rise to diverse cultural forms. This paper, using the literature of the Yangtze River as a medium and adopting the perspective of immigrant culture, bridges Chinese and foreign contexts to explore the new narrative characteristics and attitudes of Yangtze River culture. It aims to enrich the content of Yangtze River culture, preserve its spirit, enhance its openness and shared nature to the outside world, and stimulate the creativity, imagination and vitality of the Yangtze River Basin.
