CognitiveAdaptation for Book Editors in the Era of GenerativeArtificial Intelligence
Abstract
This paper explores how book publishers are professionally adapting in light of smart publishing. The findings show that, in using generative AI, publishers are mostly adapting three aspects of their professional environment: their roles, career planning, and career prospects. Since AI technologies are developing exceptionally fast, publishers need to handle this tool strategically to ensure positive and productive evolution. Improvement of editorial products continuously and rebuilding editorial skills is part of that process. In organizational terms, publishing houses should get all their employees together and tap into the resources coming from other companies within the industry to help publishers improve their skill set. In this way, publishing work will regain some value and facilitate publishers' transition into the AI era.
