The Causes of Brain Changes and Emotional Regression in People with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract

This paper will explore the connection between the changes in certain parts of the brain caused by ASD, such as the reduction in the volume of the prefrontal cortex and emotional regression (where patients suddenly lose self-control and return to their childhood way of thinking). For this paper, it employed the method of literature review to select papers from the past decade, most of which were sourced from authoritative official websites (such as PubMed) and those published by psychologists. The causes of ASD include environmental factors, genetic inheritance, genetic mutations and the physical condition of the mother during pregnancy. The main reason is that innate decisions are not, as most people think, caused by incorrect education or neglect later in life. ASD can cause changes in certain parts of the brain, which in turn can lead to symptoms of emotional deterioration. The specific details will be discussed in the main body section.
