Explore the Differences and Influences of Chinese and Western Education Methods
Abstract
This paper will be analyzed deeply, detailly, and fully about a variety of different fundamental concepts on both approaches from both China and the West and different concepts from teaching, learning, courses, assessment systems, etc. From my research it appears that the education model used in China has been derived from a long cultural history of Confucian Collectivist Cultural legacies focusing heavily on the passing down of information knowledge based systematically through subject matter using high stake exams. On the contrary, there is the Western model based on individualism and liberalism. It is also student centered where teaching and cultivating is for the promotion of students’ critical thinking skills, creative skills, practical skills and individuality. But none of them is completely perfect, as each of these models has problems like no innovative thought or unstable foundation. Globalization context is the trend of mutual learning and integration between Chinese education and Western education. This article thinks that in the future, education development cannot choose between two models. A better way to develop education would just be mixing the two types of models together to see which aspect works best in them. This new type of education offers much knowledge with an understanding and comes up with new and fresh ideas. Research gives us the theoretical idea behind the dependence of culture on the model’s educator It can also give some ideas and references for work on educational reforms.
